Confusion, discomfort, and controversy. Prophesy, fear, and fortune-telling. The end times, the second coming of Jesus, and the mark of the beast. This final book of the bible, Revelation, undoubtedly comes with an endless list of speculation and unsettling questions. People all over the world, through all generations, have asked the questions, but what if we missed the intent of God's heart in these final words of the Bible?
Could it be that the book of the Revelation is a book of comforting hope for the follower of Jesus and a call to belief for the one yet to believe? Could it be that rather than clouded in mystery, this book is actually revealing the glories of Christ to his people? Could it be that instead of writing a confusing, convoluted prophecy about the end times alone, John (the writer) was penning an affectionate letter to people he loved?
The book of the Revelation, is surrounded by mystique, variations of understanding, and the focus of much argument. Yet one thing reigns supreme in this book: Christ is victorious and in him, we are more than conquerors!
