From growing up in the Church, to faith exploration at any age, from finding the fire in a mountain top experience, or faintly lifting hands in a moment of deep sorrow, our faith experiences come in endless forms. Sometimes as faith grows and develops, our experiences lend themselves to more questions than answers, guilt, fear, and shame. Am I saved? Is my salvation secure? What does being a Christian truly look like? Does my life actually look different? In the letter of 1 John, we find "the disciple Jesus loved", speaking and guiding hope into his sheep. Like the first century churches, we too need to grasp John's pastoral words. We need constant reminders, that if we are truly in the light, we no longer live in darkness! We have been cleansed of all guilt, fear, and shame so that in our salvation, we may continuously live in the Light, and by the Light.
