Waiting is difficult sometimes. Waiting requires patience, diligence, putting off the immediacy of "right now" and putting on the supremacy of "not yet." Advent, originating from Latin "Adventus", means "coming." It can be used for anything that is in preparation, then revealed at a later time. For Christians, Advent and Christmas are undeniably special times. Church, it is our utmost delight to be a people waiting! Not only do we remember and celebrate the Old Testament's "Adventus," the fulfillment of the prophets' claim of the birth of Christ, but we are are also anticipating the eminent coming of Christ again! As we welcome in this Advent season, let us be a joyful people awaiting Christ! ⠀
