It's time to put those minds and tools to work Ladies!

As the cool weather sets in, it's time to dig into Ephesians together! Join us for a 12 week study in Ephesians as we spend time strengthening our Bible Study muscles grounded in God's Word together! We'll move from text to meaning to application, seeing the true message of Ephesians unfold before our eyes and push our souls toward holiness. Let's make the most of the time, once again, by pressing one another on toward complete trust In Christ Alone!

Why is it important for women to deeply study scripture?

As women, we are naturally inclined to read Scripture and immediately jump to application, often times missing the important details of genre, historical context, and author's intent.  This Summer, we'll walk through a more wholeistic approach to studying the Living Word for:

GOD

Matthew 22 offers the "greatest" commandment from Jesus: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."  There is no context in the life of a follower of Jesus where we check our minds at the door. We are to engage them and learn with them and use them not as an end in and of itself but as an act of worship and Godward affection.  John Piper writes, "Our thinking should be wholly engaged to do all it can to awaken and express the heartfelt fullness of treasuring God above all else." This means that the first and foremost reason for learning to study the Bible is that you cannot love God if you do not know God. With full access to the revelation of God, we study with tools, resources and techniques to know him more pouring more fuel onto the fire of worship!

OTHERS

Women are a large proportion of the makeup of the body of Christ, not just in any given local church, but globally! This means that for the church to take seriously the words of Jesus in Matthew 28, "Teaching them to observe all I have commanded you," women in particular must give themselves to learning that which Jesus commanded. It is not only an act of worship, but it overflows into biblical, practical, and effective discipleship of the body of Christ. Women equipped with tools and techniques for studying the entire Scripture helps guard the bride of Christ against false teaching and doctrine (Eph. 4:14). It is only the word of God that transforms and matures a believer. Imagine the depth of conversation in Women's Bible Studies when women are actually studying the Bible!

YOURSELF

When Paul writes in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth," he was applying a principle of scripture study to all those who follow Jesus. Studying hermeneutics (Bible study methods) challenges you to think about the author's intent, literary genre, and historical background.  The Bible is far from a self-help book. Rightly understood, you'll find the Bible to truly be a double-edged sword, where your heart is shaped and chiseled into the image of Christ!  If you, as a woman, desire to be formed into the image of the Son (Romans 8:29), right Bible Study is the ship that carries you to that destination!

Bible Study dates are October 24th-December 5th with a week off for Thanksgiving November 28th.  We will then pick back up for our second half of the study January 9th-February 13th.  There is nothing to prepare for our first week together.  However, if you are able to read Ephesians on your own before we meet, we highly recommend doing so!
