Drawing on James Spencer’s book titled Useful to God: Eight Lessons from the Life of D. L. Moody, this guide examines eight characteristics evident in the Scriptures and in the life of 19th century evangelist Dwight Moody (e.g., surrendered, prayerful, humbled, undistracted, and studious).  This free guide is the first offering from Shine Bright 365 a new ministry from The Shine Bright Project.

This 8-week guide will challenge you to (1) resist the parts of your life that are hindering your discipleship, (2) hear from God through Bible reading and prayer, and (3) do the word by engaging in concrete activities that will help you develop the characteristic described in a given week.

James Spencer earned his PhD in Theological Studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL. He is the author of Useful to God: Eight Lessons from the Life of D. L. Moody and Thinking Christian: Essays on Testimony, Accountability, and the Christian Mind and Trajectories: A Gospel-Centered Introduction to Old Testament Theology. James serves as faculty chair at Right On Mission where he teaches courses such as Developing a Christian Mind, Secular Ideologies, Cultural Maturity, and Interpreting Scripture. He currently serves as president of the D. L. Moody Center in Northfield, MA, and leads The Shine Bright Project.
